38th EDITION OF THE FESTIVAL DU NOUVEAU CINEMA
The 38th edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma will take place October 7 to 18, 2009
The 2009 website will be up and running by mid-September
The festival schedule will be available starting October 1 at the FNC Main Box Office (Agora Hydro-Québec at the Coeur des Sciences building of UQAM) and feature as an insert in the Voir the week of Thursday, October 1.

You have until July 15, 2009 to submit your short and feature-length films to the Festival du nouveau cinéma's 38th edition that will be held October 7 to 18, 2009.

Day 12 : one last day with the she-wolf!
Yesterday, the Festival gave its Louve d'Or to the superb Tulpan, by Sergey Dvortsevoy.
Don't miss tonight's screening of Charlie Kaufman's Synecdoche New York, the first film directed by the famous screenwriter (cinéma Impérial - 9:30pm). A great finish to an amazing edition!
Day 11 : the closing night is here !
After 10 days of discoveries and cinematographic overdose, the Festival gives away its awards tonight at the cinéma Impérial, during a ceremony presided by Wim Wenders and Abdellatif Kechiche.
The ceremony will be followed by the Quebec premiere of Laurent Cantet's masterpiece Entre les murs, 2008 Cannes Palme d'Or (Cantet previously got the Louve d'Or for his film L'emploi du temps).
After the screening, join the whole team at 10pm at La Tanière for a closing night party you won't forget !
Finally, don't forget the Festival's furniture great sale on Sunday, October 19 from 11am to 1pm! Come at La Tanière to get amazing discounts!
Day 10 : the events' day !
Today, special events take the center stage!
At 1pm, don't miss the public reading of the Cours écrire ton court! scripts at La Tanière (Agora Hydro-Québec du coeur des sciences de l'UQÀM).
At 10pm, come back to La Tanière to celebrate digital music. RIP : Remix Manifesto is a great party for the premiere of the eye-opening documentary showing at cinema Impérial at 7:30pm!
Last but not least, 2 surprise films have been announced for Sunday, October 19:
At 11:20am, in Parallèle, Ya Ummi (maman) L'interrogatoire d'Omar Khadr will be presented after Palermo Shooting : The Making Of. FREE ENTRANCE!
At 9:15pm, in Fellini, discover Olivier Asselin's The Last Days of Paris!
Day 9 : Abdellatif Kechiche at the FNC!
Today, one of the most awarded French filmmakers of the past years (best film award for L'esquive and at the Césars) is in town to meet us !
At 1pm, do not miss Abdellatif Kechiche's master class at the Ex-Centris !
And join us at the cinéma Impérial tonight for a really unusual double program : at 7:30pm, discover Kevin Smith latest comedy, which will be followed by Il Divo, one of the most talked about films at the Cannes Film Festival this year !

Day 8 : some good cinema to forget election day !
Not to be missed today :
A Canadian programming that doesn't let down. First, the screening of the beautiful inuit film Le jour avant le lendemain, produced by Zacharias Kunuk (Atanarjuat), at the Ex-Centris complex. The two filmmakers will be present !
Let us not forget the special screening of Michael Mackenzie's Adam's Wall at the cinema Impérial. The crew will be present !
Finally, don't miss That Should Not Be : Our Children Will Accuse Us tonight, a fascinating documentary. The film will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker about malnutrition.

Day 7 : already a week, and the she-wolf is better than ever !
Not to be missed today :
Starting at 5:30pm, the FNC offers you a triple screening of masters of cinema at the Cinéma Impérial : Raymond Depardon, Jonathan Demme, and Barbet Schroeder !
Don't miss the documentary C'est dur d'être aimé par les cons (Ex-Centris at 9:15pm). The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker.
You can also start your day at La Tanière, where Ken Scott, the famous Quebec screenwriter, will give a master class at 10am, as part of the Cours écrire ton court ! contest.
Day 6 : a holiday at the movies !
The FNC uses the holiday to propose a wonderful menu for the first day of the week !
Join the pack and celebrate the latest masterpieces from, among others, Raymond Depardon, Atom Egoyan, Abel Ferrara, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Kiyoshi Kurosawa et Denis Côté.

Be among the first to see Boorman latest film, learn about the artist himself during an exclusive master-class, and re-experience three of his most personal films :

Minute Moment / Moment Factory : Multiply the minutes
Minute Moments is a monthly arts event for the creation of one-minute videos, organized by Moment Factory for videographers, filmmakers, visual artists and the curious.
As part of the 37th Festival du nouveau cinema, a special screening at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 16 (as always, free of charge) is open to all including experienced filmmakers, novice videographers and enthusiastic filmgoers. To take part, submit a 60-second piece on the theme of MULTIPLICITY.
Send your DVD in uncompressed Quicktime format to Moment Factory (by hand or snail mail) or contact joa@momentfactory.com to submit your work online.

Contest "Ghost Stories" FNC Lab / Dailymotion
Ghost lovers, to your cameras: This Fall, cell phones will haunt Montreal!
As part of its 37th edition (from October 8 to 19, 2008), the Festival du nouveau cinéma, in partnership with Dailymotion, organizes an international cell phone film contest.
Shoot a ghost story with your mini-camera (cell phone, digital photo camera, webcam), and win a chance to be selected by the Festival du nouveau cinéma. The winning film gets a 1000$ prize!
The deadline to submit your film is September 28, 2008.

Two Quebec films to open the Festival du nouveau cinéma’s 37th edition which will be held from October 8 to 19!
A Sentimental Capitalism ( Un capitalisme sentimental) by Olivier Asselin (La Liberté d’une statue, Le Siège de l’âme) will open the 37th annual Festival du nouveau cinéma on Wednesday, October 8. The film will be preceded by Denis Villeneuve’s (Un 32 août sur terre, Maelström) short film Next Floor as part of this special evening – first off the mark with the strange and wonderful films of 2 of the most interesting directors working in Quebec today!
