Against a desolate backdrop, Grandrieux presents four characters caught in a deadly web: Seymour, a careless soldier; Roscoe, the mysterious companion; boyan, a demonic Mafioso; and Mélania, the pawn exchanged among the three men. if la vie nouvelle has divided its viewers and fuelled frustration among ordinary critics, it has also gained new supporters who believe that this form of extreme cinema, based on a meditation on philosophical affliction, perfectly embodies the fearlessness of the avant-garde.
